SYNOPSIS : “An Oscar Winning Movie: The Movie, The Series” is a multi-award-winning LGBTQIA+ comedy directed by the talented Robert Jerome Pagan. Pagan is a Puerto Rican and Mexican American theater and film director who spent the first 31 years of his career working in American theater before transitioning into film. He is also the creator of the critically acclaimed series “LAST GASP” and the culturally significant ode to Americana, “An American Posada.”
The series follows Oscar, “The Washup,” an Oscar-winning child star who is now a 30-something hermit, and a young bisexual virgin film student and his childhood friends as they attend the town’s second-best community college, Trillberry Community College. The provocative show explores what it means to come of age and the evolution of people in one’s life, all while offering a colorful and irreverent perspective on LGBTQIA+ culture.

In addition, the Merced Queer Film Festival awarded “An Oscar Winning Movie: The Movie, The Series” with several honors, including Best Male Identifying Performer for Jake Leahy in the United States Feature category and Best Comedic Duo for Elijiah Macias and Appolo Rodriguez. The festival also awarded Yaya Muñoz with Best Female Identifying Performer Central Valley, Stephanie Braxton with Best Female Identifying Supporting Performer Central Valley, Bud Crane with Best Male Identifying Supporting Performer Central Valley, and the coveted Best Film Overall Central Valley.
The series has also received honorable mentions at the Fear Faire Film Festival and been nominated for the Golden Peacock International Film Festival in 2023.
